Donate
Would you like to donate to a walker? Visit the Walk4Hearing Donation Page. From here you can search for the walker you would like to donate to or join their team.
Start a Team
You may wish to start your own team if you and other relatives, friends and co-workers will be walking together and will work towards one common fundraising goal. When you start a team, you will automatically be assigned as the captain. This will allow you to view your progress plus your team’s progress and edit the team’s page, goal and name. This means each individual who joins your team will have their own personal page. Each team member can have their own fundraising goal they want to achieve. For instance, the team goal is $1,000 so each team member might have a personal goal of $200. Team members should reach out to their contacts for support by emailing them to visit their personal page and make a donation. The donation will appear on the Honor Roll for the team member who received the donation and it will also be reflected in the team’s fundraising goal on the team’s page.

About Walk4Hearing
Do you know that 48 million Americans live with some degree of hearing loss? Three million in Florida? In the Jacksonville area, it’s 140,000! That’s one in five. The chances are you or one of your family members, friends or co-workers now has hearing loss. People with hearing loss face communication barriers every day at home, in their jobs and socially.
The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) is dedicated to providing people with hearing loss and their families, friends and co-workers with the education and support they need to function in the hearing world. Founded in 1979 by Howard E. “Rocky” Stone, a retired CIA officer, the HLAA mission is a simple one – to reduce the impact of hearing loss on a person’s daily life.
With that goal in mind, HLAA has organized a Walk4Hearing walkathon program designed to raise both funds and awareness for programs for people with hearing loss and those who care about them. Walk4Hearing was initiated in the spring of 2006 with six walkathons in New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and California. This year, the program has expanded to 22 walkathon sites across the country and will continue to grow each year.

Alliance Opportunities
A Walk4Hearing alliance group represents a 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations or educational institutions such as a school, hospital, hearing health-care-related group or house of worship that teams up with the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) to raise money by participating in the Walk4Hearing. The purpose of a Walk4Hearing alliance agreement with HLAA is to bring local community groups and organizations together to raise money for, and support the cause of, the Walk4Hearing. The alliance arrangement is a revenue sharing plan that gives other hearing-loss-related groups a financial incentive to join the Walk4Hearing. The alliance group benefits by retaining a portion of the total amount of money raised by their team(s).
[pullquote align=”center” textalign=”center” width=”60%”]Money raised in the community stays in the community for programs for people with hearing loss.[/pullquote]
